Julian was a competitive distance runner for 8 years, through high school and college. Always finding himself injured season after season, he decided to substitute some of his running miles with CrossFit. He immediately saw results with the new training program in both his running times and his health, and soon realized that he enjoyed competing in CrossFit significantly more than he liked to compete in 5K’s. With a strong endurance background, he was able to build enough strength and size to qualify individually for the 2017 California Regional competition. He has since tried to immerse himself as much as possible in the CrossFit methodology. Julian enjoys lifting heavy things over and over and over and over and over and over again.
Julian is also a chef and owner of two restaurants—Barbareño and Cubaneo. He seeks to use the knowledge he has for food with his passion for fitness to help others achieve their health and fitness goals. Julian is a certified Crossfit Level 1 Trainer and an ISSA Sports Nutrition Coach.
